Media Forms
How does the text follow the codes and conventions of an advert?
The codes and conventions that are used in this advert is the fact that they show the product right in the beginning. They also use dramatic music in which would appeal to its target audience. Like most other adverts they show the products and the person who is using the product or the service is the audience in which the product is targeted at.
Representation
How re people and place represented in this advert?
The way in which people are represented in this advert is that women are superior and men and les dominant. The way in which this is done is because the man puts the on the Lynx dry and all of a sudden is dragged half way across the towns by two girls. The women are represented as sexual. This is because they are in the water and wearing not much clothing. The way that women are more superior is because they have the power of dragging a man across the city just to get him because he is wearing the product. We then see later in the advert that they are mermaids; this represents fantasy on the males behalf as mermaids are seen to be sexual creatures and a man would dream to be chased after by two mermaids.
Institution
What does this text tell us about the media institutions involved?
The institution for Lynx is Unilever, but from looking at the advert I would not have known from this that it is Unilever. This is because the advert does not show any representation of the institutions in the advert.
Audience
What techniques does the advert use to appeal to its target audience?
The target audience for this product is Men. The techniques that are used to appeal to its target audience, is that they represent women in a sexual way. This is a good technique to appeal to its target audience. The way in which this would appeal is because it shows when the man puts on Lynx it makes them irresistible from women. This would appeal to its audience, as they would think if they brought this product they would also be irresistible from women. They also use fantasy as they use mermaids.
