Media Forms:

What techniques does the trailer use to persuade its audience to see the film?

The techniques, which are used in this trailer, which persuade people to go and watch the film, is that they show the most interesting bits of the film which make people want to go and see the film more. They show the interesting bits which make the audience want to see more but without giving too much of the film away. An example of this in the trailer is they tell the audience that a character has committed suicide but not which one ore why. This would make the audience want to see more why.

Media Representation:

How is gender represented in this trailer?

In this trailer men are represented as superior. The way in which this is done is in many ways. Majority of the trailer is showing just male characters and showing each different ways in which they are superior. In one scene it says, “In her suicide not she mentions Sam” this tells us as the audience that they have power not necessarily good power but able to make someone commit suicide. They show many different characters of males and show their different mind frames and different ways in which they have power.

Media Audiences:

What target audience would be attracted to this film?

The target audience for this film is a younger audience teenagers the age from 16 – 21. This is because the main characters in the film are all young and the film is based in school. This would appeal to a younger audience as they would be the same as and be able to relate to the characters. Another way in which they can relate is their stereotypes of young people drinking, smoking, partying and violence. It is stereotyped that youths are like this.

Media Institutions:

What low budget values and characteristics can you indentify in this trailer?

There aren’t many low budget characteristics in which I can identify in this trailer the only ones that I can see t says: “S N H Y PRESENTS…” This is not a well-known institution so from that it would tell us that it is a low budget film. There aren’t many other characteristics that tell us that it is a low budget film.

During the advert they also show the different qualities of the car, which would appeal to its target audience. The way in which they have done this is by showing the speed of the car and how smooth the ride is. At the end of the advert, they also quote “Next Generation Hyundai”, by doing this, it tells the target audience that it’s easier to use and has new technology to go with the world as they are also improving with technology. This would appeal to its target audience.

Within the advert gender is represented as males being more dominant. This is because they have used a boy who is driving the car throughout. The way in which this represents males as being dominant is the way in which he is driving the car is shown as a stereotype as how a male would drive the car. He also is driving and stops and picks up a girl from the side of the road. This would also make males feel superior. This is because it would make men think that if they had the Hyundai they would appeal more to women and they would be more attracted to the man. This would make the car feel dreamy for men as they would have a nice car and they would also get a woman. This is also stereotyped to appeal to men, as all they think about is “cars and women”. This is stereotypically seen to be a dreamy experience. Another way in which they show the experience of the Hyundai to be dreamy is with the use of sound that is used. They have used a very chilled out “happy song”. This would also have an effect on the target audience as if they were to have a slow depressing song it would appeal much to its target audience.
